So, I went down a wormhole with this, doing a lot of research to find something that would remove all the built up acrylic  paint from my brushes.I mean they were STIFF.Well after a some research, I found one thing that just got the job done. Isopropyl Alcohol.Yes just pure alcohol in all its concentration.

What will you need:

  • Isopropyl alcohol (any concentration)
  • Glass jar
  • Water
  • Dish soap
  • Petroleum jelly (optional)

Method:

All I did was put half and half of Isopropyl alcohol and water in a glass jar, popped in my brushes for basically hours.Removed them, washed them in some regular old dish soap, and down the drain went all the built up paint.

Now i must say I have read that this method can be drying for your brushes,so use with caution. You can dilute it more, leave in the brushes for a lesser amount of time, and so on.What i can say, is that it is super effective in just melting away all that dry paint that can be such a pain to remove.

How to keep paint brushes in good condition:

TIP: I also found that coating your paint brushes in a little petroleum jelly after cleaning them helps them stay in shape, and well moisturized.I tried it and it sure does work.

Anyways, I hope this helped anyone trying to get their paint brushes back into workable condition.
